Cross Slide

The Cross Slide rides across the Saddle and has a feed screw which travels at right angles to the Spindle axis. This permits facing operations to be performed, and the depth of cut to be adjusted.

The Cross Slide is laser-cut from 20mm plate, and the dovetails are cut using the ‘Saddle Jig’. It has two tee slots where the Compound Slide, and/or Tool Post or other accessories, can be bolted using tee-nuts.

A gib strip is fitted to ensure snug fitting to the upper Saddle dovetails.

The feed screw is initially a length of 16mm threaded rod and will then be replaced by a 16mm trapezoidal screw.
