Tools Required

The main tools required will be an angle grinder, drill press and an arc welder. A handheld drill could be used, however, a drill press is pretty much an essential tool in any workshop. I am not really attempting to cater for those who have practically nothing and limited access to hardware supplies.

Other than the main tools, various general metalworking tools will be used, particularly measuring and marking out tools.

Rather than spend my lump sum on purchasing a ready built lathe, and then sitting there wondering what to do with it, I have spent a much smaller amount on the following items.

Dial indicator and magnetic stand
123 blocks
Set of 12mm shank lathe cutting tools
Tungsten tipped scriber
Set of end mills
Digital vernier calipers
Manual and digital angle protractor
Plastic circular protractor
Engineers square 150mm
Engineers blue
Feeler guages
Set of 4 micrometers 0-100mm
Set of internal measuring
Set of collet chucks
Tapping guide
Glass plate 10mm x 400mm x 300mm
New set of files

Most were purchased from eBay for a very reasonable price, surprising actually, and I have yet to find much fault with them for the home machinist, not to mention the enjoyment of parcels of goodies regularly arriving at my doorstep.
